Basic functions or operations of a computer

Basic functions that a computer can perform are (Basic operations):

  1. Input: Data and information are considered as input. The input devices (such as keyboard, mouse) takes the input and format it in machine read-able form.
  2. Process: The processing unit (CPU) performs arithmetic and logical operations to convert data into information.
  3. Store: Processed information is then stored in a storage device (such as RAM or Hard disk).
  4. Output: Machine read-able result is then converted into human read-able form and displayed by the output devices (such as monitor, printer).
