Operating system & Its Function

Operating system: 

Operating system (OS) is a set of software which controls the execution of computer programs and which provides scheduling, resource allocation, debugging and related service. It works as a bridge between the user and the machine.

Function of Operating System: 

1. It makes the computer active and use-able.
2. It manages the processor.
3. It co-ordinates different machine and software.
4. It manages memory.
5. It allocates resources.
6. It assigns priority.
7. It controls input and output devices.
8. About all, it creates working environment.

Computer Software: 1. System Software, 2. Application software

Computer Software: 

The term software refers to the set of computer programs, procedures, and associated documents that describe the programs and how they are to be used. So, Software means a collection of programs whose objective is to enhance the capabilities of the hardware machine.

The software can be divided into two main categories:

1. System software
2. Application software.

System Software: 

The software is computer software that controls the computer hardware and to provide and maintain a platform of running application software.    

Application Software:  

Application software of application or an app is computer software designed to help the user to perform singular of multiple specific tasks.

LCD Monitor & The advantages of LCD Monitor

LCD Monitor: 

The Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) uses a clear liquid chemical trapped in tiny pockets between two pieces of glass. Each pocket of liquid is covered both front and back by very thin wires. When a small amount of current is applied to both wires, a chemical reaction turns the liquid dark, thereby blocking light. The point of blocked light is the pixel.

The advantages of LCD Monitor:

1. Low power consumption 
2. Low cost
3. Small size
4. LEDs do not emit light; as a result, the image has very little contrast.
5. Screen is susceptible to glare, so the optimum viewing angle is narrow.
6. LCDs have less colour capability. 
7. Resolution is not as good as that of a CRT.

CRT Monitor & Features of CRT Monitor

CRT Monitor: 

CRT starts for Cathode Ray Tube. It is the most conventional monitor. This is being used all over the world. It looks like the conventional television.

Features of CRT Monitor: 

Every CRT has a special hardware component called electron gun. It is placed near the back of any monochrome or gray scale monitor. The gun shoots a beam of electrons through magnetic coils which aims the beam at the front of monitor screens in coated when it is struck by the electron beam. The screen’s phosphor coating is organized into a grid of dots. Modern monochrome or gray scale monitors can focus on Penal as small as a phosphor dot.

Monitor: 

The term monitor can be defined as an electronic device which is used in a computer to display desired outcomes or results.

There are mainly two types of monitor. They are:

1. CRT monitor
2. LCD monitor
